UNFINISHED BUSINESS (Old Business)
-MEMBERSHIP: We have a new member this evening, Mike Tyne!
Take your camera to Aladdin functions and club/unit meetings both to get photos (possibly for use in the calendar and Aladdin’s Lamp) and to identify Shriners with photography interests who might like to join our club. Send photos to Frankie at The Lamp and ask her to indicate that they are by the Aladdin Shrine Photography Club.
-DUES CARDS: Some more 2016 dues cards were passed out.
-2017 CALENDAR: We will plan to do a calendar again this year. We’ll decide on the format later in the year. There was discussion of doing a calendar instead of collage as the Potentate’s gift at the Potentate’s visit in October. Dennis said that we could do a few unique calendars when we do the big batch of 2017 calendars.
-POTENTATE’S VISIT: The Potentate’s visit is on October 25. It was decided that we hold it at the Florentine Restaurant again. Mark will make the reservation (done). We need to take lots of photos of the Potentate for the photo collage (or calendar) gift.
-OUTINGS : Ideas given were the Mott’s Military Museum and the Air Force Museum.
-OLD CIRCUS PHOTOS : Mark has gone through them and selected the best of the old photos. Reduced many boxes down to 3 boxes. It was agreed that these boxes of photos should go into the archive room. There was also discussion about possibly organizing an effort to scan and categorize the old photos in the archive room.
CALENDAR RAFFLE : with unique numbers – This is a money making program that the Divan is considering and, if they go forward with it, they are considering using our 2016 Calendar. This would require a unique identifier number be associated with each calendar. Dennis says that this is possible.
DIVAN PHOTOS : Our club took the portraits of the Divan this year, as well as pictures of the Divan members and their wives.
APRIL STATED MEETING MEAL : Aladdin clubs and units are being signed up to prepare the meals at stated meetings the first half of 2016. The ASPC is signed up for the April 18 dinner. This will be a money making event for our club. Art, Clyde, Dennis and Mark will meet at Aladdin at 2pm on Monday, April 18. They will get the Aladdin credit card and go to GFS or Sam’s Club or Costco to get food for the dinner. The probable menu is all beef franks in buns with ketchup, mustard and relish as toppings, potato salad, baked beans, cookies. Mike Tyne can help serve. We need a few more guys to help serve and possibly take photos at the end of the food line.
Prints for the lobby boards : Rodney suggested that we regularly update photo prints on the new lobby boards.
Brutal Brothers collage : the Brutal Brothers are interested in having a collage much like what we did for the Registrars. Mark attended the March 1 Brutal Brothers meeting to address this. Bob Beymer said that he would contact Mark for further discussion.
Voice of Aladdin Hamfest : On Saturday, August 6, Voice of Aladdin will be holding its annual Hamfest at the Aladdin Shrine Center. As part of the program, they offer three or four informational sessions about amateur radio. They thought our club might be able to video these sessions as a fund raiser in that all videos sold would be our funds to keep. We discussed this and decided that this is outside of our capabilities, especially the audio aspect, and that we will decline.
Adult Easter Egg Hunt : Saturday March 26 at 6pm. Clyde will cover this event.
Kentucky Derby Party : Saturday May 7 in the afternoon. Dennis will cover this event.
