UNFINISHED BUSINESS: (Old Business):

-CLUB SHIRTS AND CAPS: We looked at the jacket choices that Mark selected in the catalogs provided by Dennis. Mark tried to find a water resistant jacket that would be fairly comfortable for most cool and cold seasons, and that has zippered outer and inner pockets and adjustable wrists. After reviewing both catalogs, Mark proposed the model JP54 Port Authority Competitor Jacket. We will address this again at the next meeting when more members are present.

-MEMBERSHIP: Take your camera to Aladdin functions and club/unit meetings both to get photos (possibly for use in the calendar) and to identify Shriners with photography interests who might like to join our club. Send photos to Frankie at The Lamp and ask her to indicate that they are by the Aladdin Shrine Photography Club.

-DUES CARDS: None were passed out at this meeting.

-PHOTOS OF THE POTENTATE:
Club members should take photos of the Potentate and send them to Mark.

-PHOTOS OF NEW BUILDING CONSTRUCTION -and dismantling of the current building: Dennis Gongwer has started taking pictures of the construction about once a week.

2016 CALENDAR: We will do the calendar again; last year was the first time. At the last meeting, Clyde suggested that we get a photo of the Potentate closing the door on the current Aladdin building, and perhaps opening the door on the new building. Also at the last meeting, Dennis suggested we get the calendar out in October to allow a longer selling time. This would mean final photos are taken in September.

POTENTATE’S VISIT: The Potentate’s visit will be on the 4th Tuesday in October (10/27). We will need to find a venue for this since we’ll be out of the current Aladdin building by then and the new building probably won’t be ready yet. Brenda Springer did not get the position she had hoped, so meeting at that location is off the table. Art told Mark that somewhere like the Pizza Cottage party room would be fine, so Mark had a look at the Pickerington Pizza Cottage. Also, Mark checked on the rumor that events at the current Aladdin location are being extended through the end of October, and he found out this is not true; the October 3 Ceremonial is the last event.

Dave suggested Brunos on 161.

Also, Dennis got pricing and availability at the Florentine. The room is free and food prices are quite reasonable. Numerous people have been to nice events at the Florentine and it was agreed that this would be a good location for our Potentate’s visit. Mark said that, if we can reserve the room for the evening of October 27, we will book it.

Dave said if they do not have a PA he can provide one.

WEBSITE RENEWAL: Mark renewed the website domain name and hosting service, and has been reimbursed.

TICKETS: Mark has $10 tickets for the 8/15 Chicken & Corn Roast tickets for $10.

NEW BUSINESS
OLD PHOTOS – Mark was contacted about the discovery of 8 boxes of old circus photos. They go back a long way; they appear to be from the 1960s or earlier. It would be good to go through them, pick out the best ones, scan them into digital format, and post them on the club website. We could have club members each take a box and scan and upload them at home. We’ll get the boxes back at the next meeting and discuss further.

TOPICS AND OUTINGS: This is our second anniversary meeting. A year ago, at our first anniversary meeting, we discussed what we would like to do over the coming year and it was decided we should work on techniques, which is what we have done at meetings over the past year. This evening, it was asked what should we do over the coming year. Members said, now that they have better knowledge of techniques, we should do outings again. It was also suggested that we go back through some of the techniques trainings of the past year. Subsequent to the meeting, Fred suggested that we have a training on filters at the next meeting.

This evening’s topic was Panning. After a presentation on how to pan a shot, we went out to the parking lot and tried it out. Mark rode a bicycle back and forth while the guys practiced taking panned shots of him doing so.

Topic for our next: Filters
